Tarps are also available at the Township Hall if anyone wants to take extra trash to the landfill.
Vehicles must be covered with these approved tarps.

Trash Collection – Every Week (Thursday)

Residents may now rent on an annual basis an additional trash and/or recycling container.  The rental fee is $150.00/year.  The fee is not pro-rated.  All rental fees become due in January.  You may return the container if no longer needed but no money will be refunded.  Please call town hall (299-0780) if you wish to rent an additional container.

Trash Requirements:

  • Do NOT place trash cans in front of mail box as this delays delivery of the mail
  • Do NOT place trash cans next to/close to telephone poles, lamp posts, street signs, and fences.
  • Do NOT park your car in front of the trash container – it will not be picked up
  • Containers must be at least five (5) feet apart in order to allow room for hauler to pickup up container
  • When placing container at curbside, place wheels toward house
  • No tires or batteries will be picked up
  • Do NOT spray paint your house number on the containers.  Each container has been assigned a number to correspond to your location. Containers are the property of Oldmans Twp.  If you would like to place your house number on the container, please use stick-on numbers.
  • It is recommended to bag your trash prior to placing in container in order to avoid trash being blown when the container is being tipped into the truck.

Recycling Requirements:

  • DO NOT PLACE RECYCLING IN PLASTIC BAGS
  • Only plastics labeled #1 and #2 can be recycled; remove all caps and throw away.
  • Plastic toys are considered trash
  • Shredded paper is NOT recyclable – place in trash container
  • Clean out recyclables prior to placing in container
  • Do NOT tie newspapers – can be placed in paper bag, not a plastic bag
  • Cardboard should be broken down in order to fit into container

The following items are NOT allowed to be placed in the recycling container:

  • Food Scraps                                                              Laundry Baskets
  • Needles or Syringes                                                Laptop Carriers
  • Batteries                                                                   Tires and Rim
  • Diapers                                                                     Ceramics
  • Porcelain                                                                  Medical Waste
  • Cookware                                                                 Propane & Air Tanks
  • Coat Hangers                                                          Mattresses and Frames
  • Appliances                                                               Caps or Lids From Bottles
  • Mixed Rigid Plastics                                              Styrofoam
  • Light Bulbs                                                              Fluorescent Bulbs
  • Gas Cans                                                                  Roof Shingles
  • Wood                                                                        Yard Trimmings, Leaves, Grass, Branches, Logs, etc.
  • Pizza Boxes

Bulk Material

  • Each resident is allowed six (6) free stickers per year in order to have any bulk material picked up curbside
  • Resident must come into Town Hall to list item(s) to be picked up and obtain necessary sticker
  • If additional stickers needed beyond six, each additional sticker is $5.00
  • Bulk items may be placed at the curb seven (7) days prior to the bulk pickup date, not before
  • No construction material will be picked up – resident responsible for obtaining a dumpster or taking to County Landfill
  • Additionally, there will be available a dumpster located at Town Hall which can be utilized by residents.   Each resident is allowed two (2) free uses of the Township dumpster, but you must first notify the Municipal Clerk prior to using the dumpster.  The dumpster is only available during normal office hours.

Household Rechargeable Batteries and Cell Phones:

There is a contained available at Town Hall to dispose of used rechargeable batteries (HOUSEHOLD, not auto) and cell phones.  Alkaline batteries may be disposed of in the normal trash

Tire Recycling:

There is no tire recycling at the Township building.  Please dispose of your tires where you purchase new ones, or at the Salem County Landfill.

Household Hazardous:

Waste Spring & Fall Collection Days:  Events are ALWAYS held on the third Saturday of April and October each year from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 non at the Salem County Solid Waste Facility 36 McKillip Road off Route 540 Alloway.  Participation limited to Salem County Residents at no charge.  For more info call 856-935-7900 ext 21
